Biography

Courtney Haeick is from Buffalo, New York, and is an artist and educator. She is a multidisciplinary artist that creates paintings, sculptures, jewelry, graphic designs, and murals. She received her BFA in Art Education from Buffalo State College and graduated with her MFA in Sculpture from SUNY New Paltz..

During her MFA program at SUNY New Paltz, she created art about human connection and vulnerability through performative sculptures and videos. After her MFA she moved to Florida to work as a High School Sculpture and Ceramics teacher. She currently teaches at St. Augustine HS and does private lessons as well. She teaches intro Ceramics, Sculpture, AP, and Portfolio Art.

Over the past few years, she has focused on creating pottery and educating students on hand-building and throwing techniques. She is mostly self-taught and studies various cultures techniques, styles, and firing methods to influence her artwork and projects.

Courtney's passion for murals and chalk art began when her High School art club participated in a local chalk festival. After over 10 years of participating in chalk festivals and winning multiple prizes she has become a professional chalk muralist. Courtney enjoys the performance and ephemeral qualities chalk art offers. She enjoys creating bright and colorful portraits, animal drawings, and floral artwork.

She has exhibited her work at the Burchfield Penney Museum of Art, Unison Art Center, Idea Garden in Kingston, Project 308 Art Gallery, Conception Arts in Chicago, Czurles-Nelson Gallery, Bacon Student Art Gallery at Buffalo State, Kenan Center, and Albright Knox Student Art Gallery. Courtney has also created logo designs for Boston Hills Brewery.
